Story of a shoemaker.

Once there was a shoemaker.

He was young and lazy.

His needs were few, and he was happy with his small earnings from his work.

When his boss at the shoe factory would tell him to do overtime, he would refuse to do it.

One day he got married and had children.

Now, he needed more money.

He went to his hoss and asked for some overtime.

The boss was surprised but happy to know that he was ready to do overtime.

Now the shoemaker was working for his and his wife’s and children’s needs.

His consciousness had become broader but – still limited to his own family.

Many years passed. He and his family were very happy.

One day, as he was resting, his mind started thinking – “ I am making these shoes, but who must be wearing them?

These shoes might help some poor people prevent cuts and bruises on their feet.

Also, they may prevent some diabetic patients from getting infections on their feet, etc.

I want to ensure I’m making the best shoes for such purposes. “

He told his boss, “ Now onwards, I’ll be coming a little earlier and staying a little longer.”

The boss asked him,” But why? The factory is doing fine. There is no more work than what you already are doing.”

The shoemaker replied, “ I just want to make sure that the quality of my work is good so that our consumers can have the best shoes possible.”

The boss said,” OK, But I won’t pay you for that extra time. “

The shoemaker said, “ Fine. No problem.”

Now his consciousness had expanded much further.

His yogakshema will always be taken care of by Krishna.

He won’t be chasing money for happiness.

His happiness would be in the work itself.

That is the magic of Karmyoga.

In karmyoga, everyone benefits – you and the world.
