We are an Onion
Awareness is our core, our true self; the rest are just layers around us, like the peels of an onion, like the clothing we all wear.
Knowledge received from outside is not ours; it is only a layer around us.
It may have a value in Sansar, but on a spiritual path, it is a burden.
In Sansar, we live a very superficial life, a life of layers, till we die.
Not only do others evaluate us through these layers, but strangely, we also evaluate ourselves only through them.
Others praise, inflates us, and others criticisms make us weak.
We never know our true self, and its power.
What would we be without these layers?
Mind, body, and sense organs are external; they were created for that purpose only: to delve into these layers.
They will never help you go within and realize your true self.
Only when the meaninglessness of external knowledge is realized does the inner core reveal itself.
Gaining external knowledge is effortful.
The knowledge of the self is an effortless realization.
The whole of Sansar is like a big party, where we all judge each other by our clothing.
We are so infatuated with this Sansaric life that we have totally forgotten what exists within.
Within these clothes, we are all the same.
In our mind-driven life, we even go to bed with these layers (mind – thoughts, Ego, stress, anxiety).
Mahavir’s nudity signifies his realization of this inner core, one without layers.
Meditation is hard only because we are afraid to let go of these layers.
Once we do, self-realization happens.
