Thoughts & Thoughtlessness
Thoughts are not your enemies.
Thoughts and thoughtlessness are just two states of existence.
But in Advait, no TWO can exist.
The path of meditation dictates that wherever and whenever you see duality, you transcend them both into a single entity.
We have two hands, right and left, but perceiving them as separate will only bring confusion.
So, beyond thoughts and thoughtlessness lies an entity you need to find within: awareness.
When you are aware of thoughts and also of thoughtlessness, awareness the supreme is the parent of both.
So, awareness chooses to think, or awareness chooses not to think.
From not thinking to thinking is a gradual curve, not water-tight compartments.
Just as the day and night are not absolute.
Day is the full expression of light, and night is the lowest expression of light, on a sliding scale.
Duality divides and creates hard-lined compartments.
Advait unites them to a single entity.
So let thoughts happen; let them come and go.
Just don’t attach “I” to it.
Thoughts don’t belong to you; everything belongs to the consciousness; there is no separate thinker.
Imagining a thinker is the cause of our suffering.
