Meditation - one person's experience.

Meditation – one person’s experience.

My answer is very personal meaning it probably only applies to me!

My change ( still a journey, not a destination) came about after long and intense determination bordering on passion or obsession to be a better person by reducing anger considerably and limiting alcohol to my desired limit.

My family had a lot to do with it.

I take pride in being a good parent/husband etc and I could not look in the mirror and do things that I knew were causing them stress!

I started visualizing how if my wife said something that would get me angry.

I would replace an angry response with a friendly loving one, gulping my ego in the process.

Over time it became more of a habit and the happy result is a reward in itself- less stress for all the parties.

Also, I realized that exceeding alcohol beyond 75 ml of single malt or 8 ounces of wine a day caused a Negative reaction ( lack of sleep, tiredness, etc ) which exceeded the pleasure of drinking.

So again I made it a passion to stay within the limit.

Of course, positive reinforcements from the family were key!

To change you also need gurus like Dr Shrenik but also caring people and like I said it needs a total dedication to change.

I have applied similar practices to almost totally overcome what others think of me and overcome any jealousy about what people have – in material terms and now care only about what values others have and how they live their lives….

Again I realize I have said nothing profound! But said as it is. I am going to post without reading it because it is fresh from my heart!
