“I” is your Dog.
“I” is our perpetually demanding pet; we have become its slave.
Just like a dog, “I” needs to be pampered (kept happy) all the time.
If “I” feels bad, it won’t let you rest until you find ways to make it happy again.
“I” is always hungry and needs full attention.
It always needs to be recognized by others; recognition is its food.
Every experience you go through, “I” accompanies you, and like a dog, it sniffs out each experience in detail: what is in it for me? If there is, it won’t let you walk away from it. It (Ego) wants to stay only where it gets recognized.
If it sees any competition with another “I”, it doesn’t like it, it makes you restless, and makes you walk away from there, and take you where it is recognized more (and has less competition).
“I” has constant demands, like an ever hungry dog.
A dog owner does not own the dog; the dog owns the owner.
We don’t own Ego, Ego owns us.
It’s time to walk away from such an ever-demanding pet called
“I”, and experience the freedom for the first time.
We have become so habituated to our pet, the “I,” that we cannot even imagine a life without it.
Events will keep happening in life; after all, that is life, a summation of events.
With vigilant witnessing, we can let all the events come and go without letting them leave any mark on our psyche.
Let our awareness stay pure, innocent, peaceful and playful.
Don’t let the dog called “I” raise its head, and if it does, treat it with dispassion, and it will become humble again; transientness is its nature, and we are the perpetual awareness supreme.
This is how we establish the supremacy of awareness over the “I”.
Dispassion is the greatest spiritual tool that will wither out our old time pet, “I”.
[12:04 PM, 6/30/2026] Shrenik Shah: Dispassion towards gains (wins), dispassion towards losses.
Dispassion towards admirations, dispassion towards condemnations.
Dispassion towards desires, dispassion towards mistakes.
Let dispassion be the main Bhav in life.
This will lead you to sthitpragnya state.
