Interdependence was Buddha’s central tenet.
One who grasps this and pursues it diligently is sure to realize Samadhi.
Interdependence is a simple, factual reality of life that we consistently fail to recognize.
“I” as we identify ourselves, has an existence at five sheaths, and all of them are dependent on external factors, except one.
1. Food sheath ( physical body ) ( Annamaya Kosha ) – depends on food
2. Energy sheath ( Pranamaya Kosha ) – depends on Prana derived from food, water, and air.
3. Mind sheath ( Manomay Kosha) – thoughts are dependent on others ( objects, people, situations ).
4. Intellect sheath ( wisdom ) (Vigyanmay Kosha ) is above the sansar, helps us navigate through life wisely, but is still dependent on the sansar.
5. Bliss sheath ( Anandmay Kosha ) – the only sheath that is independent from everything.
And “I” is not “I” without “You”; they are interconnected; both are illusions.
This connectivity is not just local, but extends far away into the cosmos.
All the molecules circulating now were there even before our sun came into existence.
Every single object, person, and situation is created solely by the interplay of molecules.
Even a flower will not be a flower without the soil, sun, air, or even the space that allows it to grow.
So, where is the room for “I” in the context of this?
It is still there in everybody’s life, and everyone keeps forming and condensing their life stories around “I” till they die.
All our emotions, sentiments, joys, sufferings, relationships, and beliefs surround this “I”.
But, “I” is only a thought, a belief, a mental construct.
The whole of sansar is caught up in this mental fog.
The fact that there is no separate “I” (Ego), needs to be contemplated deeply in meditation, in full awareness; only then will it become a fact for us.
When this becomes a fact, thoughts, likes, dislikes, emotions, and beliefs all become redundant, because all thoughts are based on duality, “I” and “You”. (Emotions are also thoughts).
With this realization of yours, the world will not change; only your inner vision of the world will change.
The reality that the world is non-dual, will become your fact.
Believing oneself to be separate from existence is not accepting this reality.
Accepting reality AS IS is wisdom, and not accepting it, is a mental fog.
This wisdom has to arise from within, while meditating, not just a mental understanding.
Once duality is discarded, what remains is pure non-dual shunya state.
Shunya state is a state without thoughts, beliefs, memories, desires, life stories, or vrttis (tendencies), only pure stillness.
This stillness, you can walk around with, and keep watching the drama of life unfolding by itself without your involvement.
Your approach to the world will not be that of desires, but with Bhavs of love and compassion, which is only giving, not taking anything from Sansar.
This is living in the Bliss sheath,
a freedom from the life of INTERDEPENDENCE, a true Sanyas.
