The key to eliminating vrttis and Vasanas is carefully studying them in deep meditation.
All vrittis and vasanas arise after coming into contact with samsara.
Many are deeply rooted, spanning multiple lives, making them difficult to remove, like an ancient tree with extensive roots.
Sansar significantly influences us; we do what Sansar does, because we don’t know our TRUE SELF.
Anything we get exposed to in Sansar generates a response within us.
The first sip of Coke generates a response of LIKE.
This LIKE controls our following action – consumption.
With repetitive consumption in like-minded company, it takes a foothold in our psyche, and gradually we get addicted to it.
Then, we can’t stop it even though it may be causing us significant harm.
Similarly, if we come into contact with people who hold biased attitudes, we also begin to develop such attitudes.
As we carry such attitudes and continue to be exposed to other people with similar attitudes, bias becomes firmly rooted in our psyche as a truth, which it is not.
With a biased mind, discrimination gradually comes into our actions.
Discrimination leads to hatred, and hatred leads to violence.
All this happened because we did not know our true self.
‘
Meditation is the realization and removal of such roots of our vrttis and asanas.
After removing such roots, what is left is pure soil of consciousness, which is universal, uniform, non-biased, seated in itself, and not influenced by the Sansar.
