Brain, Mind Vs Consciousness
Just as hands, feet, eyes, and ears have been given to us, the brain is just another organ given to us to navigate Sansar.
Just as a fish uses its fins to navigate in the ocean, the brain’s job is to observe various interactions with Sansar (via the five senses), record them (as memory), and use these memories as needed.
The mind is nothing but a collection of the activities of the brain.
In its activity, the mind also creates divisions like good-bad, like-dislike, etc to pursue its self-created goals.
And everything is fine; the brain is one of the finest organs of our body.
But the problem is, somewhere along the way, we also created an imaginary concept of “I” in this process, and that was our mistake.
And now it has become “the truth” for us.
In reality, we are not the brain, nor its activity (mind).
We are the awareness that is aware of both. (The one that KNOWS).
We are the KNOWER of it all.
Not knowing this fact is where our suffering comes from.
The mind is happy; we are happy.
The mind is sad; we are sad.
It’s like sitting in a Toyota and believing that “I am Toyota.”
We are riding in this body, using the brain, generating zillions of thoughts from its activity (the mind), BUT none of that is us.
Suffering is not who we are, nor is happiness.
Thoughts we are not, and neither are we beliefs, concepts, or convictions.
We are not doctors, nor are we the patient.
We are pure consciousness, observing all this, like a play.
So, know this yourself; live life like a play; nothing to gain, nothing to lose.
Be the serenity itself; never let the sansaric life make you lose it.
All the sufferings belong to the brain, mind, and Sansar.
All the bliss belongs to you.
