How do you see a Tree?
When we look at a tree, we perceive the tree as seen and us as the seer, never “seeing” the space in between, because it is so transparent.
Similarly, awareness is the most translucent dimension within us, encompassing the whole sansar, yet remaining imperceptible.
While we remain absorbed in the Sansar, we are totally oblivious of the transparent awareness.
The reality is that the sansar is a temporary reality dancing in this medium of awareness and will evaporate sooner or later, while awareness, that reality, will remain forever.
The only way to realize the transparency of awareness is silence, not words.
Words are backed by thoughts, and thoughts are backed by Bhav and the whole barrage of the mind.
A single thought arises, and the awareness becomes impalpable.
Mind and awareness are mutually contradictory.
The inner silence is all supreme.
Let’s go deeper.
When you see a tree, an experience happens.
What is the most important component of this experience?
The most important component in an experience is the space.
Space is what creates the separation between you and the tree.
Imagine there was no space between you and the tree, and you were stuck together; how would you see the tree?
Out of the five basic elements (earth, water, fire, air, space – in ascending order of pervasiveness), space is the highest element of all, as it allows the interactions of the other four elements to happen within itself.
When we see a tree, we only care about us and the tree, never realizing the importance of the space in between.
Someday, we won’t be here, and the tree also will be gone; what would happen to the space?
Nothing; it always stays; it doesn’t go anywhere.
Because it has no form, it is infinite; it cannot go anywhere.
Our life is nothing but a series of such finite experiences, all happening within this infinite space, the formless existence.
Formlessness is the mother of all forms, and, like a good mother, it never deserts us; it is always with us in all our experiences and will always be there after we dissolve.
We are transient, and the trees are transient, but the space, the existence, is eternal.
Existence is the truth, but it remains hidden, and experiences are the untruth, yet they seem so real.
That is Maya (an illusion).
Maya is like a dream that appears true but is not.
