The Present
Mind revels in the past.
That’s all it can do, keep dealing with the known.
All desires, emotions, regrets, and beliefs are built on whatever has already happened.
An event occurs first, and only afterward does the mind create a thought (and subsequent emotions) about it. We call them memories.
The event happens, and the mind adds its two cents later, making us believe in its “smartness”.
Then it applies “I” -ness to it, stitching together all the life’s events, making them look like a movie around an imaginary “I”.
Every person lives their own movie and takes it with them when they die.
Being born in unreality and dying in one.
Present, where there is no mind, is the reality, and we miss it.
Stay in the calmness of the present, never running after pleasures, but enjoying what life brings.
When there is movement of thought, one does not see the truth.
Sense pleasure aggravates the ignorance. Hence, if there is craving, do not fulfill it: what difficulty is there in this?
– Vasistha’s Yoga
Mind has brought us to this point, to a spiritual path, seeking something higher, something beyond.
Keep relying on the mind and seeking beyond, contradict each other.
Only by losing faith in the mind can we make headway.
