Understanding the Nature of Things

Understanding the Nature of Things

Buddha’s main teaching was understanding the nature of things.

Nature works spontaneously, without effort.

Where there is spontaneity, there is no effort, and where there is no effort, there is no suffering (because efforts expect rewards – Karmphal).

The sun shines, but one can’t say that; it is giving out light; sunlight is just happening.

We happen to be at the receiving end; that’s why we call it “giving”.

Even if we did not exist, do you think the Sun would stop shining? No, it is its nature to shine.

When a tree blooms, fragrance releases unconditionally, irrespective of who smells it or who does not.

We live a conditioned life; “I love you” usually means “I like you”(with a subtle condition of liking).

So, the corollary is that “I don’t love you” means “I don’t like you.”

This will be very difficult for a Sansari to understand because he lives a conditioned life centered around his Ego (mind).

When there is no mind, there are no conditions, and your true nature surfaces – find it.
